- Oven 325 for 2 hours.
Season, to taste, with additional salt and pepper. Swiss steak with brown gravy was a 'feel-good' meal at our house when I was growing up. My Mom got the recipe for swiss steak from my Grandma (they were both great cooks) and it would fill the house with delicious aromas that drew our family to the table. In a large skillet, brown steak, half at a time, in butter. Add tomato sauce, lemon juice, soy sauce and Worcestershire; mix well.
