- Get 1 pinch ★High quality salt
- Get 1 tbsp Kecap manis (Indonesian sweet soy sauce) (or honey and soy sauce)
- Take 1 Soy bean oil (or your choice of oil)
To begin with this particular recipe, we have to prepare a few ingredients. Whisk together lime juice, oil, tamari, chili powder, garlic, oregano, cloves and adobo in a wide, shallow dish. Prepare a grill for medium heat cooking. If you have an air fryer, you can also cook it in there as well!
Instructions to make Simple Tempeh Pedas (Spicy Tempeh):
- Finely chop the tempeh.
- Fry the tempeh in a frying pan (in 2-3 batches).
- Grind up the ★ ingredients in a stone mortar to make the sambal.
- If you finely chop the ★ ingredients and then add them in the order listed, it will be easiest.
- Once you have a paste, leave 1 tablespoon oil in the frying pan from Step 2 and lightly stir-fry the sambal. Then, mix it with the tempeh and kecap manis.
- It's ready! You can also top it with a citrus peel for a zesty flavour.
Prepare a grill for medium heat cooking. If you have an air fryer, you can also cook it in there as well! And that's pretty much it, friends! Anyway, let me tell you a little bit about Tempeh. Tempeh is a product made from soybean as it is made naturally from a fermentation process.
